I'm a little late with September but didn't want to get into a pattern of shifting to just posting every other month rather than monthly.

I don't really have much in the way of photos to share this time around, so we'll keep it to a text-only update this time around.

The house is coming along. We're hanging art and mirrors. The last real piece of missing furniture to buy at this point is a coffee table. You'd think something like that would be straightforward. Turns out it's not. We'll continue to look, but at least it hasn't prevented us from enjoying living here.

Work trip to Philadelphia

September is likely my only work trip to Philly for the year. I missed the earlier one this year because I thought I'd be moving into my new house. It was great to see all my co-workers for the week.

Movies

Air travel and time away gave me extra time to catch up on some movies, so there's a bit here this month.

  • The Rivals of Amziah King wasn't a bad movie at all. Not what I was expecting,, but had an ending I really liked.
  • Red Sonja (2025) was a lot of fun. Felt like an 80s-style fantasy flick. Far from Lord of the Rings, but if you liked films like The Sword and the Sorcerer, you'll enjoy it.
  • Deathstalker (2025) is in the same vein, but a little more over the top.
  • Practical Magic (1998) Since the sequel came out, my wife and I decided to watch this ahead of going. She'd never seen it and I didn't remember it. After viewing, we decided we weren't that interested in catching the sequel.
  • Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die (2025) was a blast. really good, don't-know-where-this-is-going flick that had me glued to the screen.
  • Raw Force (1982) is the first film I've watched on Eternal Family, which is an online service offering flicks you were likely to find on the lesser perused shelves at Blockbuster back in the day. This one was awesomely bad in the best way possible. My main wish is that I could've seen this in a theater full of people.
  • Terrifier 3 (2024) I don't feel I really need to see this, but I did enjoy the 2nd film. This one just felt like a bunch of really bad stuff was happening to everyone with a story at all.
  • Resident Evil (2026) was a blast. Basically, the story of a non-player character of the game. Really fun throughout.
  • Backrooms was interesting. I'll leave it at that.
