Work

On the GraphQL front, I've assembled a team. I don't anticipate them doing much at this point other than following along with what I'm doing. But they'll be helping me make decisions. More importantly, they'll be learning as things are built.

Power Leadership Conference in Charlotte, NC

Twice a year, Power Home Remodeling has a leadership conference. It's a change to gather our companies leaders and rev them up for the next six months. We learn a lot about each other, what makes a successful team and how to spot weaknesses in them.

It's a good mix if introspection, sharing and team-building exercises.

One of those was visiting the U.S. National Whitewater Center outside of Charlotte. It's quite an amazing facility that I'd never heard of. I wish there was one closer to where I live. Rafting was great fun and it quickly became apparent that when rowing, if we weren't in sync as a team, we'd be flipping the raft. Luckily, my team didn't flip the raft and no one fell out!

Movies

The Meg was a lot more entertaining than I'd have thought it would be. I supposed all the incredibly awful shark movies littering the SyFy Channel has possibly lower my bar quite a bit. I found myself laughing a lot during the movie. Just a fun flick.

Mansions of Madness Second Edition

If you recall, I'm investigating some dinner guests to see which one is planning to kill the host. I've explored a few rooms and chatted with some guests. All polite with some mild gossip.

Guard dog guarding

The most intriguing thing though is that there's a guard dog standing outside the side of the house which refuses to let me get past. Have to see if I can stuff some steak in my pocket at dinner.

Speaking of which, I was alerted that dinner time is coming soon so I should make sure to speak to all the guests. Just one, maybe two more to go.
