Last time I mentioned that my step-dad had passed away, and I was helping my mom out for a bit. I ended up staying there for almost the entire month of October.

Out of all that, I guess the biggest thing is that they had a reverse mortgage only in my step-father's name. This gave my mom a few, not so great options.

  • Buy the house back at its current value. This was about double what they originally paid for it.
  • Sell the house. For this, she has to have it listed for sale within forty-five days after my step-dad's date of death. (They certainly want to kick her out fast.)
  • She does nothing and allows them to foreclose on the house. Oddly enough, they can't start foreclosure for six months, but can extend that time period up to a year.

She's going to try to sell the house and get a little money out of it, but they don't really give you a lot of grieving time before having to take action on one of those paths.

House Construction Update

We have interior walls now. November will finally include some changes to the outside of the house. Painting will be done inside soon, and we'll have cabinets installed in a few weeks.

Movies

  • Bring Her Back was a great follow-up film from Danny and Michael Philippou's last film, Talk to Me. They definitely know how to make me squirm in my seat.
  • Lilo & Stitch (2025) is the live-action version. It's okay, but I honestly don't know why they felt the need to do a live action version.
  • Roofman was good. Saw this one with my mom and we both enjoyed it.
  • The Woman in Cabin 10 was a bit frustrating for me to watch because the characters made dumb decisions that only seemed to be made to propel the plot forward.
  • TRON: Ares I liked quite a bit. I know this one's gotten a bit of hate, but I really enjoyed it. And I really loved the ending, which set up a sequel I really hope they make.
